How to Install and Use the Coast Range Collective Extension (Beta Guide)
· By Bradley Joyce

This guide walks beta testers through installing the Coast Range Collective browser extension in Chrome, signing in as a member, and using every feature. Plan on about five minutes. If you get stuck at any point, email hello@coastrangecollective.com.
Before you start
- A Chromium browser — Google Chrome, Brave, Arc, or Microsoft Edge all work.
- Your beta install package. We'll email you a download link when you join the beta. During the beta, the extension is installed manually (it isn't on the Chrome Web Store yet). A public one-click install will come later.
- Your Coast Range Collective member account — the same login you use on coastrangecollective.com. You need this to unlock member-only discount codes.
Part 1 — Install the extension (beta)
Step 1: Download and unzip your beta package
Open the link we emailed you and download the extension ZIP file. Double-click it to unzip, and you'll get a folder (it contains the built extension files). Move that folder somewhere stable — your Documents folder is fine. Don't delete it after installing; Chrome loads the extension directly from this folder.
Step 2: Open Chrome's Extensions page
In your browser's address bar, type chrome://extensions and press Enter. (On Edge, use edge://extensions.)
Step 3: Turn on Developer mode
In the top-right corner of the Extensions page, flip the Developer mode toggle on. This reveals a new row of buttons — including the one you need next.
Step 4: Load the extension
Click Load unpacked, then select the unzipped extension folder from Step 1. The Coast Range Collective extension appears in your list of extensions right away.
Step 5: Pin it to your toolbar
Click the puzzle-piece Extensions icon in the top-right of your browser, find Coast Range Collective, and click the pin icon next to it. The CRC icon now sits in your toolbar where you can reach it on any page.
That's the install done. The icon stays greyed-out on ordinary sites and lights up when you're on a partner store.
Part 2 — Sign in as a member
You can browse partner deals without signing in, but member-only discount codes stay locked until you do. Here's how to unlock them.
Step 1: Open the popup and go to Codes
Click the CRC icon in your toolbar to open the popup, then select the Codes tab. If you're not signed in yet, you'll see a prompt to sign in with your CRC account before member codes appear.
Step 2: Sign in with your CRC account
Click Sign in with CRC account. A new tab opens with the standard Coast Range Collective account login. Sign in with your usual member credentials — the same ones you use on the storefront. We never see or store your password; sign-in happens through Shopify's secure customer login.
Step 3: Return to the popup
Once you're signed in, close the login tab and reopen the extension popup. The Codes tab now shows your unlocked member codes, and a Sign out link appears at the top. You're set.
Part 3 — Using the extension
Shopping a partner store (the On Site tab)
Visit any CRC partner store and open the popup. The On Site tab confirms "Affiliate tracking activated for this partner" and shows the brand's member code and deals. Tracking is active for that visit, so any purchase you make supports the Collective automatically.

The On Site tab while shopping Suunto USA — tracking is active and the member code is right there. Once signed in, the top of the popup shows your account with a Sign out link. Codes are blurred in this preview.

On some partners, like Peax Equipment, the On Site tab confirms "Member deals unlocked" and "Affiliate tracking activated for this site," and surfaces any CRC write-ups about the brand even when there's no code to copy.
Copy a code and shop (Copy & Shop)
On any code — whether in On Site or the Codes tab — click Copy & Shop. This does two things at once: it copies the discount code to your clipboard, and it opens the store through an attributed link so your visit is tracked for CRC. Paste the code at checkout and you're done.
Finding a code by brand (the Codes tab)
Open the Codes tab and type a brand name in the search box to filter your member codes instantly. Each result shows the brand, a short description, the code, and its own Copy & Shop button.

Browsing curated deals (the CRC Deals tab)
The CRC Deals tab shows deal write-ups our team curates for members. Use the category chips — All, Hunting, Fishing, Camping, Overlanding — or the search box to narrow things down, then tap a deal to read the full write-up on the CRC site.

Discovering partner brands (the Partners tab)
The Partners tab lists every partner merchant. Search for a brand, then click it to open that store through an attributed link — a quick way to start a shopping session with tracking already on.

Troubleshooting
- The icon stays greyed out. That's expected on non-partner sites — the extension only activates on known CRC partners. Try opening a partner store, or check the Partners tab to see which brands are in the program.
- The Codes tab keeps asking me to sign in. Your member session is short-lived by design. Just click Sign in with CRC account again — it takes a few seconds.
- I don't see a code for a brand. Not every partner has a member code, and some offers are deal-based rather than code-based. Check the On Site and CRC Deals tabs for that brand.
- Chrome says the extension folder can't be found. Chrome loads the beta build from the folder you selected during install. If you moved or deleted it, put it back (or re-unzip the package) and use Load unpacked again.
- Still stuck? Email hello@coastrangecollective.com with a quick description and a screenshot if you can — it helps us fix things fast during the beta.
How to remove it
Go to chrome://extensions, find Coast Range Collective, and click Remove. You can sign out first from the popup's Sign out link if you'd like to end your member session immediately.
For details on what data the extension handles, see the Extension Privacy Policy.
